Understanding your true identity is one of the most essential things in life. Only when you know who you are in Christ, can you genuinely live according to the whole being God created you to be and be part of a higher plan. When God lovingly created you, He designed you to occupy the perfect place in His creation, with all the necessary tools to thrive in your purpose by being exactly who you are. This includes your physical traits, special way of connecting with God, how you see the world, unique gifts, personality, learning styles, skills, and everything that makes you feel alive. These are all interconnected with your original purpose, which God wants you to fulfill as part of the body of Christ and as a unique creation.
So, how do you understand what your true identity is? Here are some things you can observe and practice to understand who you are so you can use all of you to fulfill your purpose in life:
Spend time with God. Spending time with your creator who accepts and loves you the way you are is the first key to unlocking your true self. Your identity is in Christ. You are who He says you are.
Be mindful of your traits and your gifts. Thinking about what you are naturally good at is a way of understanding which tools you have to fulfill your purpose.
Accept yourself. You need to accept and learn to love all those amazing things you can do, and who you really are. Because if you don't love yourself and accept yourself as you are, you won't be able to grow in your gifts and use them to thrive in your purpose.
Grow and nurture your gifts and qualities. Having good qualities or being good at something or several things is not enough when you want to pursue your calling. You need to work and master those beautiful gifts that you have inside of you.
The more you grow on your gifts and use them in favor of your purpose, you will see progress.
Remember to be mindful of all of these steps to help you thrive in your purpose. A good way to keep track of this and to understand better all these connections with your purpose and your identity is by jotting down in a journal or a special place all of this information. By writing it down, you will keep track of your progress, understand your identity more deeply, and will help you plan your next steps.
